Hello Mr. Kelly,
I am an ordinary citizen just turned 70 so I was 11 when the assassination happened. It has interested me ever since. I have read most books on the lone nut side of things and found those on the conspiracy side of things rather "out there". I am willing to listen but will require proof. This is however not to engender a debate but to ask you some very specific questions regarding Mr. Schmidt. I was very excited to read your interview with him. Largely because, according to the Frontline Documentary he and Oswald connected at the party in early 63
I have always thought that Mr Oswalds motives for killing Kennedy were as follows.
1. His desire to change history and be famous
BK: If this were true he would not have denied committing the crime. You can't get around that.
2. His idolization of Fidel Castro* and anger at Kennedy regarding his policies directed at Cuba and Castro.
BK: Oswald was never angry at Kennedy. According to Marina and Ruth and Michael Paine and George deMohrenschildt, he greatly admired JFK.
3. His anger and resentment at Marina for rejecting him multiple times that Thursday.
BK: He did not hold anger or resentment against Marina. They had a tempermental relationship that overcame many problems. He had more money at that time than I have most of the time, shared it with Marina, and talked to her about buying shoes for the girls.
* wanting to name his unborn child Fidel, writing to the FPCC and asking for a photo "suitable for framing would be a nice touch". Suggesting he hijack an airliner to get to Cuba to fight for Castro.
BK: These are all tidbits that were developed as part of the very well documented black prop op disinformation campaign, begun before the assassination, to blame the murder on Oswald and Castro.
My question to you sir is; In an FBI interview (affidavit)? just a few days after the assassination Mr. Schmidt disclaimed any knowledge of any disparaging remarks by Oswald about Kennedy in their two hour chat at the party. Why would he lie?
BK: To save his skin. For the same reason Mr. White refused to deal with the FBI and Dallas Police after seeing the accused assassin in Carl Mather's car near the scene of the murder of his good friend J.D. Tippit, Mr. Ochus Campbell told a reporter that he saw Oswald on the first floor when he reentered the building immediately after the shooting - they realized, especially after the murder of Oswald, that this was a very serious game and lives were at stake.
Do you think he was afraid of being blamed for not reporting Oswald, as indeed he blames Mr. De Mohrenschildt ?
Did you find Mr. Schmidt credible?
BK: Yes.
He seemed very sincere and genuine in the candor with which he spoke. (even if he did throw a few people under the bus).
BK: The key aspects of his conversation with me is the fact that he was raised by German Dr. Keutemeyer, who was associated with two of the German military officers who plotted to kill Hitler in the July 20, 1944 Valkyrie assassination attempt, and used a "reverse psychology" technique taught to him by Keutemeyer on Oswald in discussing Walker, and suggesting that Walker should be killed as Hitler should have been. This was also related to Marina, and on the back of one of the Backyard Photos given to deMohrenschildt, she wrote "Hunter of Fascists! Ha, Ha." This of course dovetails with the briefing Desmond FitzGerald gave the Joint Chiefs of Staff on September 25, 1963, telling them the CIA was "studying in detail" the July 20, 1944 German military plot to kill Hitler in order to utilize against Castro. When a FOIA request was made to the CIA for that "detailed study," they couldn't find it.
Did you ever have any follow up with him?
BK: No
Thank You
