In observance of the upcoming 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, Utah’s Kurt Bestor will premiere his 45-minute piece: "JFK: Rise, Fall and Immortality" at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza in Dallas at noon on March 15.

"I wanted to take this unfortunate part of American history and use it to pay tribute to the man that was President John F. Kennedy," said Bestor in a press release. "I think that it is important to recognize the impact of historical events on our lives today and I am thankful that I have the ability to do this with music."

Kennedy was shot at noon on Nov. 22, 1963.

Bestor described his piece as a five-movement classical work for choir and orchestral ensemble. Dr. Craig Jessop will conduct a group of freelance musicians including Bestor, who will be playing piano.

Jessop is the dean for the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University and is the former music director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
